Beaver Sizing
I can’t take credit for this, I found it in Swamptalk Forums. There is tons of information about trapping all species of animals and the users are very helpful. If you enjoy trapping, I’d definitely recommend a visit.
After clean skinning or fleshing, hang Beaver Pelt by the nose on a nail, then measure from nose to farthest point. This will give you the hanging length. This will help determine what ring to use on the board. Take this measurement and apply to chart.

|---|---|---|
| 28″ to 30″ | 43″ | 40″ – 6 – S |
| 30″ to 33″ | 47″ | 45″ – 5 – M |
| 33″ to 36″ | 52″ | 52″ – 4 – LM |
| 36″ to 39″ | 57″ | 55″ – 3 – L |
| 40″ to 42″ | 62″ | 60″ – 2 – XL |
| 43″ to 45″ | 67″ | 65″ – 1 – XXL |
| 45″ > | 70″ | XXXL |
Beaver should be stretched on oval patterns. Nose must be removed from pelt or graders at Canadian auctions will fold pelt at base of nose and then measure from crease in pelt. Leaving nose on pelt will deduct approximately 1″ from pelt size. Try not to overstretch pelt as this will thin out fur.
Beaver stretched 70″ or over – Size #0 or XXXL
Beaver stretched under 40″ – Size #7 or XS
